The Medieval Catholic Church played a big role in the Middle Ages, with the local church located in the centre of the town.
People attended the church for weekly ceremonies like weddings, funerals and confirmations. Kings were even confirmed on their throne, giving them the right to the throne. The leader of the Catholic Church was and still is the Pope.Cardinals were next in line after the Pope and then came bishops and abbots. Peasants hardy ever had much money if they had money so they usually paid in goods, services or monetary value. if they didn't pay their tax they would be condemned by the church.
